I’ve been working for a big computer company for a year and a half. Being a trainee here was a great experience for me. I learned a lot to support computer systems (this is what I had to learn because I’m not a major CS). Since I have been intervening here, many other trainees have come and gone. Some I really liked, while others I was happy to avoid. Most of the other trainees came from regional colleges, but there was a couple here and there from high school. Most of them were in different departments, however. Even so, there is a comaradry among the “grunts” as we surname ourselves, and we often spend our lunch hours together.

We planned a fishing trip and camp for the first week after the school closed. My wife, daughter and son also invited Ashley, Tammy’s boyfriend. Ashley was a neighbor who lived a few doors in the neighborhood. For a few days, we all prepared with enthusiasm for the journey. The day before our departure, our son Jack came down with a virus and it seemed that the trip was to be cancelled. The girls were extremely disappointed and complained about something horrible. The morning we were supposed to leave, my wife suggested I take the girls and she’d stay home with Jack. He was better, but she thought he’d stay close to him. Camping and fishing wasn’t exactly his favorite activity anyway. I think she welcomed the apology back. The girls were happy, the car was almost all packed, so we went.
